The first painting solo show by visual artist Erick Ortega -CaliDoso-, a series of mixed media paintings based off of a sketchbook developed between 2021 and 2024 exploring compositions of shape color and texture that lean into abstract geometry marking a departure in the artist’s visual language. Taking sketches and building on top of the ideas on bigger canvases re-shapes and takes the pieces to a new destination to be discovered in the making process, allowing for creative surprises and aiming for expression rather than perfection, thus embracing mistakes into the final result.
