Since 2018, the Sacramento, CA band Deftones have hosted and curated an annual one day event as a celebration of the band’s legacy inspired by mexican Día de Muertos. Over the past 3 versions an eclectic line-up ranging from rock, hardcore, punk, rap and electronic acts has taken over the PetCo Park in San Diego, California.

Inspired by this event and Deftones being one of my favorite bands, I came up with a main illustrated poster / key visual, that could be extended into a range of digital assets, an apparel line and a limited edition beer.

The visual inspiration was a mix between Mexican references, from catrinas, flowers, hearts, veladoras and graphic nods to the band’s discography, specially their self titled album that turned 20 years on 2023.
